The first official poster has been revealed for the upcoming re-imagining of Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm, which is slated for a theatrical release in April 2010. Along with the poster for the ANOES remake, which shows that clawed-killer Freddy Krueger hasn't changed all that much (he still dons the clawed-glove, fedora, sweater, and third degree burns), the official website for the movie has also been launched. There's an official synopsis for the movie that you should check out, which sheds light on how exactly they're rethinking the franchise.

This time, the guy who played Krueger for years will not be reprising his role in director Samuel Bayer (who's known for directing music videos for bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Tesla). Instead, Jakie Earle Haley (Watchmen) will be the new Freddy.

I have a feeling Haley might be able to pull off a good Freddy.

It's weird that the director of the ANOES remake also has a background in directing music videos. So did Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw remake, Friday the 13th remake) who's also working under Platinum Dunes.
