When it comes to video games where your main objective is battling hordes of zombies, the Resident Evil franchise dominates in that subgenre (and yeah, we know the enemies in more recent RE games are technically not "zombies"). But in the realm of Flash games, there happens to be quite a lot of undead-themed games. We're not going to lie, a lot of them a crap. Though there are a handful of these that are just too good for any zombie fanatic to pass up. Celebrate this Halloween with OMGHorror as we count down the 9 greatest zombie flash games ever created!
#9: Zombie Grinder
In this insanely-fast paced zombie obliterating sidescroller, you mow down the living dead with a shotgun as death metal blasts in the background. Quick reflexes are required to survive this intense ride that has become somewhat of a cult classic game on the internet.
#8: Endless Zombie Rampage
Though there are games that do the whole "slaughtering swarm after swarm of zombies" (see Dead Frontier) better, Endless Zombie Rampage is certainly worth giving a whirl, for those satisfying spurts of blood you can cause on your attackers if nothing else. One of the more addicting games in the zombie flash game universe.
#7: Marksmen
Marksmen is a bit repetitive at first, but it's still one of the better zombie flash games around. The game takes a first-person shooting approach to massacring the undead that works incredibly well.
#6: Zombie Erik
Playing a bit like a Flash version of House of the Dead, in Zombie Erik you blast zombies and other beastly enemies that appear on the screen as quickly as you can. The game also has some kickass gruesome character design.
#5: Pandemic 2
Pandemic 2 is the thinking man's zombie game. In the game, you create a virus, parasite, or bacteria that will bring about the destruction of mankind. You even get to name your zombie-spawning disease!
#4: Dead Frontier
There are numerous zombie flash games that play like Dead Frontier, where you move around a map shooting crowds of flesh-eaters, trying your best to not let them surround you. None of them do it as well as Dead Frontier. The game has a great ominous atmosphere and is actually one of the scarier flash games we've come across.
#3: Divine Intervention
Likely a reference to Peter Jackson's splatter comedy Dead Alive, in Divine Intervention you play as a priest who has been called upon by god to fight the legions of the dead. The game's awfully short, but the gore and the mutilation you can inflict is arguably the best found in any zombie flash game.
#2: De-animator
Loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator, in De-animator you play as Dr. Herbert West who must use his revolver to blow away the reanimated corpses he's responsible for unleashing upon the world. This game's silhouetted-graphics earn it some serious style points. Shoot the zombies in the neck to decapitate them!
#1: The Last Stand 2
The original The Last Stand, where you guard a specific location from packs of onrushing zombies, is regarded as the quintessential zombie flash game, and rightly so. The sequel makes things more interesting with better, deadlier weaponry and more enemy variety. Play the game above to see why we've put the game in the number 1 slot.
