The latest installment in Konami's atmospheric survival horror franchise is out today, and so far the reviews aren't pretty. Silent Hill: Homecoming (Xbox 360, PS3) scores an underwhelming 3 out of 5 stars on our parent site GamePro.com (60%). The game also got a 6.5 out of 10 from the Official Xbox Magazine. It's still early though and we'll see how some of the other gaming pubs rate the game.

Final Word: You know, we're big fans of the Silent Hill franchise at OMGHorror.com, and the news about Homecoming being the weakest entry in the series bums us out. Silent Hill 4: The Room wasn't the best horror game we've ever played, but it was still fun and it appears that the 6th game makes The Room look a lot better. At least we have Resident Evil 5 and Fatal Frame IV to look forward to.

EGM gave it B. Fans of the series will like the game. If you've never played a Silent HIll game before don't bother with this one.

Maybe this will be just cause to derail the 2010 planned Silent Hill 2 film release - To think the guy who co-wrote Pulp Fiction penned Silent Hill (one) is kind of disheartening.

Really? Damn, a B's not too shabby, especially from EGM. I'm curious to see how the overall scores will look as they are now just trickling out.

it recieved an A/A+ from UGO. i wouldn't count out this game just yet. it will more or less get mixed reviews like Too Human.

Silent Hill games except for the exception of "TWO" never score that high. . . . Critics hated number 4, I loved it,........they gave craporama GTA4 a 10, . . I give it 6.
I read one review where the guy didn't like it because too many of the doors were locked. . . WHAT!?
What, do they give horror reviews to the "Kingdom Hearts" lover, or the FPS expert?

I'm buying it anyway, I know exactly what to expect. What, your telling me Origins was better?
Why do people that aren't into horror get to review these games, . . why do people review games at all and expect "their" view to be relevant?
Most of my favorite games don't score well, . . why? Because we all have different tastes, so basing a review of a game on 5 or 10 reviews is fine, . . basing it on just one is just plain stupid.

i have it on order through GameStop, i don't know when i'll receive it. they seem to lack with shipping it fast now-a-days.

Playing the game now. The game is fine. Go into this game expecting a new Silent Hill game, and not the second coming of Silent Hill 2, then you'll be fine. Its not perfect, but no Silent Hill is. So far reviews have been mixed. But I'm liking it.

i have played the first hour or two of this game with my friend, and i thought it was pretty damn sweet. i don't see why it would be getting negative reviews, definetely better than 4, so it is worth buying.
