28 years after initially conceived, the underrated slasher-whodunit My Bloody Valentine is not only being updated for new audiences via remake, the new version will also employ 3-D technology. The film, to be released January 16, 2009, will revolve around a young man returning to his hometown on the 10th anniversary of a tragic slaughter that left more than 20 teenagers dead. Upon return, the young man finds an unwelcoming onslaught of murder accusations tied to said anniversary. Meanwhile, a new crop of fresh-faces is being brutally desecrated by the hour. By what, you may ask? Well, like the original, it's a person in a miner's mask wielding a large pick-axe! It's up to the young man and is long time friend to quell the murders and uncover the perpetrator. The picture, written by Todd Farmer and Zane Smith, is directed by Patrick Lussier (Dracula 2000, White Noise 2: The Light) - and stars Jensen Ackles, Jamie King, Kerr Smith, Kevin Tighe, Tom Atkins and Betsy Rue. Oh jesus. Can you imagine watching a slasher film in 3-D? If Michael Jackson's Captain EO 3-D (or whatever the fuck it was called) was freaky, imagine what modern grisly horror film would be like all up in your face.

As far as early '80s slasher goes, I always held a fondness for My Bloody Valentine. It has solid gore, a believable setting and murderer facade (mining town, mask etc.), and a nice twist ending that elevates the film above run of the mill. Hope the 3-D isn't too cheesed out. The poster rules though.

The poster looks bad ass, but is this director any good? I havn't seen White Noise 2.

White Noise 2 was actually better than White Noise. I know, hard to believe, but somehow it's true.

Awesome news!

Btw, there appears to be a typo in "the young man and is long time friend". Shouldn't it be "his"?

The poster's fantastic.

I gotta say, I'm a bit skeptical of the new resurgence of 3D. My Bloody Valentine is still one of my favorite slashers, I hope they don't pull a Black Christmas.
