#35: Swimming in Blended Humans
From: Phenomena
We don't know what the hell director Dario Argento used to fill up the pool that Jennifer Connelly becomes submerged in, but it looks like liquefied human corpses and that's exactly what it's supposed to be in the movie Phenomena. Easily one of the foulest looking concoctions ever to appear in a film, made nastier due to the fact that Connelly is dunked into the creamy gore.
#34: Ripped to Shreds by Zombie Horde
From: Day of the Dead (1985)
Arguably the most well-known horror movie moment in this entire list comes from George A. Romero's gorier sequel to his zombie epic Dawn of the Dead. Towards the end of Day of the Dead, Captain Rhodes' body is savagely torn apart like a cooked chicken by a room full of ravenous zombies. To make this scene even more awesome, as the zombies are eating Rhodes' glistening entrails he screams "CHOKE ON 'EM!"

#33: Resuscitation Gone Horribly Wrong
From: The Thing
It could be said that John Carpenter has been in a bit of a horror slump lately, but you'd have to be crazy (or not care for horror films) to have anything negative to say about his 1982 masterpiece, The Thing. In what we here at OMGHorror consider the best and grisliest part of the movie, a pair of heart defibrillators are applied to a man's chest, which unexpectedly rips open and then clamps down on the resuscitator's arms, tearing them right off. The mutilated corpse transforms again and... well, just watch the damn clip.
#32: Slow-Motion Shotgun Death
From: Maniac
Esteemed horror make-up effects artist Tom Savini (who worked on countless horror projects such as Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th) really went balls deep in making his short death scene, where he eats a shotgun blast to the face at point blank range, the most disgustingly juicy head explosion possible. In Savini's cameo, he's making out with a woman in his car when the film's killer jumps onto the hood of his car and turns his head into a cloud of wet meat with his shotgun.

Having a miscarriage must be one hell of a traumatic experience, but it must be just shy of tasting your first beer or having your first orgasm compared to birthing not merely a dead baby but one that is riddled with maggots tunneling through its decayed flesh. Soft as a baby's butt? Not this baby.
#30: Making Out with Putrid Naked Granny
From: The Shining
It's funny how if you ask someone to name the most horrifying moment that they took away from The Shining; the results will almost always vary. But for the hardened gore vets of OMGHorror, there's really not a whole lot we fear more than getting too drunk and accidentally embracing our nude grandmothers. And that's basically what happens to Jack Torrance (played by Jack Nicholson), only the woman he's sucking face with is in an advanced stage in decomposition. Good time for a bath.
#29: Raped by a Monstrously Deformed Hillbilly
From: The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
We were hesitant to include the notorious Hills Have Eyes rape scene at first because it's somewhat more disturbing than gross, but decided to included it due to numerous times we've heard people we'd normally consider total gore hounds bitch about how repulsed they were by the scene (many of whom say they didn't like the film because of this one powerful scene). Alexandre Aja definitely struck a nerve with this one.
#28: The World's Ugliest Premature Baby
From: Eraserhead
While not a traditional horror movie, David Lynch's black and white film about a man living with his grotesquely deformed infant which looks like a cross between a reptile and a featherless chicken makes our list at #28. It's said that an embalmed cow fetus was actually used for the mutant baby.

#27: Chest-Burster
From: Alien
The first time moviegoers witnessed John Hurt's character die in Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror masterpiece Alien is inarguably one of the most terrifying moments in cinema history. After a crab-like facehugger lays its egg inside his mouth, a serpent-like creature later bursts forth from his chest, killing Hurt's character and grossing out the audience in the process.
#26: Botched Double-Leg Amputation
From: The Ruins
SKIP this blurb if you haven't seen The Ruins for yourself yet, or read on if you love spoilers. In the recent horror movie, a group of vacationers find themselves in the middle of the Mexican jungle where carnivorous plants are protecting a Mayan ruin. One of the man-eating vines latches itself onto the German guide's leg gashes and slowly eats away at them. The group decides the best thing to do is amputate the damaged limbs, and they do so by crushing his leg bones with a large stone, slicing off the surrounding meat with a dinky pocket knife, and then cauterizing his spurting wounds with a scalding frying pan. It'd be almost comical if it weren't so graphic.
#25: Bloody Finger Suckling
From: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Towards the end of 1974 original classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a young girl named Sally is forced to dine with Leatherface and his deranged family members. The grossest scene of the film soon follows as Sally's finger is pricked, inserted into grandpa's mouth, and then sucked on for nourishment like a baby sucking its mother's breast.
#24: Suicidal Masturbation
From: Nekromantik
What good's a roundup of revolting horror movie moments without including something from the king of nasty horror movies, 1987's Nekromantik. In the film's ghastly finale, a character stabs himself to death as his masturbating reaches an orgasm. Yeah, Nekromantik is that fucked up.
#23: Old Man Lasagna
From: The Blob (1988)
It sucks so much more when a harmless old person gets slain in a movie rather than a Coors Light-guzzling frat boy or another horror movie archetypical victim. Towards the beginning of Chuck Russell's 1988 super gory remake of The Blob, a homeless dude gets taken to the hospital after coming in contact with a flesh-melting pile of goo from space. After the doctor pulls back his bed sheet, you see the cheesy gore the lower half of the nameless old-timer is reduced to.
#22: Masturbating with a Crucifix
From: The Exorcist
Allow me to diverge from the normal blurb format for a moment and tell you all a true story about my mother who was born and raised in Peru. At the time of the film's release, my mother's maid went to see William Peter Blatty's legendary horror masterpiece The Exorcist. After watching the film, which to this day remains a terrifying movie, she lost her mind to the severity that my mother's family had to commit her to an insane asylum. True story. Although I wasn't even close to being born at the time, my guess is this specific scene probably didn't help her mental state. A preteen Regan masturbates with a crucifix, pulling her mother's face towards her bleeding vagina, the whole time shrieking "Let Jesus Fuck You, Let Jesus Fuck You, Let Him Fuck You!"
#21: Intestinal Film Reel
From: Cigarette Burns
Another scene from the Masters of Horror television that this list wouldn't be complete without is from John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns, where an insane character played by Udo Kier self-eviscerates himself, unraveling his innards onto a film's projection reel in order to make the goriest film ever created. Ridiculous, yes, but sickening nonetheless.
#20: Quadruple Amputation
From: 2001 Maniacs
Historically referred to as "quartering" (the third stage in the 17th century punishment of being hanged, drawn, and quartered), a quadruple amputation is achieved in the film 2001 Maniacs when a woman's hands and feet are tied to four separate horses that literally tear her limb from limb.

#19: Biting of Protracted Pineal Gland
From: From Beyond
Most people know horror director Stuart Gordon for his immensely popular cult film Re-Animator, but the surreal horror movie he made a year later From Beyond is equally as brutally brilliant. In one of the last scenes in this bizarre movie, the main character who has undergone a unsightly mutation grows a worm-like appendage jutting out of his forehead. The film's blonde babe played by Barbara Crampton bites down on this almost phallic deformation, and like a dog tearing apart a piece of meat, she rips it off his face.
#18: Penis Sandwich
From: Blood Sucking Freaks
It's rather difficult to pick the overall filthiest moment from the ridiculously obscene exploitation film Blood Sucking Freaks. The whole movie is essentially one long grotesque scene, but something in the closing scene makes us cringe more than anything else in the film. In the last minute or two of Blood Sucking Freaks, as several belligerent women are screaming and dancing around butt-naked, one of them takes a big bite of sandwich with a severed penis in it. Penis butter and jelly, anyone?
#17: Bowl of Puss
From: Dead Alive
Hailed by many gore enthusiasts as the Citizen Kane of splatter films, Peter Jackson's Dead Alive is as gruesome as horror movies get. With too many revolting moments to name, one scene in particular above all others is guaranteed to make you queasy. When several characters are sitting down for a meal with the diseased Mrs. Cosgrave, her wound spurts snot-like fluid into a bowl of custard which one fellow unknowingly slurps up.
#16: Dual Meat Hook Nipple Impaling
From: Cannibal Ferox
Many of us on the OMGHorror staff have held off on getting our nipples pierced after viewing Cannibal Ferox. In the film (which is also known as Make them Die Slowly) a blonde woman is placed upon two rather unsanitary looking metal hooks that stab straight through her breasts, making for one of the most unbearable horror movie scenes ever, especially for female horror fans.
#15: Eyeball-Nerve Snip
From: Hostel
I still can't fathom why Jay Hernandez' character thought it would be a good idea to cutt off the asian chick's dangling eye on a nerve when he rescues her. To make matters even nastier, a pulpy yellow goo oozes out of her eyeless socket. Yeeach.
#14: Abortion Dinner
From: Anthropophagus
In the crusty Italian gore flick Anthropophagus, a crazed cannibal (who went psycho after eating his own wife and child's corpses in an extreme state of starvation) stalks a group of tourists who are stuck on a deserted island. There are two scenes everyone who has seen the movie remembers: the ending, where the man-eating killer devours his own greasy intestines, and another slightly more horrid moment. In an exceedingly graphic scene towards the end of the movie, the cannibal violently reaches into a pregnant woman, tears out her premature baby, and then chows down on the infant.
#13: Licking Placenta off Deformed Baby
From: The Brood
At the end of David Cronenberg's The Brood, the mother played by Samantha Eggar births another malformed demon baby to add to her throng of midget minions, only this time the viewer gets to witness her biting open the embryonic sac they come in with her teeth and then proceeding to lick every last glob of afterbirth off her hideous spawn.
#12: Turtle Evisceration
From: Cannibal Holocaust
Ruggero Deodato's notoriously controversial Cannibal Holocaust has this reputation for being some unbelievable non-stop bloodbath. Don't get us wrong, the movie is pretty fucking brutal, but it's actually somewhat tame, especially by today's standards of movie gore. But that's not to say it doesn't have its share of genuinely sickening moments, specifically those where real animals are actually slaughtered on camera. The worst of these animal killings is when an enormous turtle is gutted and eaten. Like many horror fans, I've seen thousands of movie eviscerations, but I've only seen an actual living being get disemboweled once and that's in Cannibal Holocaust.
#11: Power Drill through the Brain
From: City of the Living Dead
No relation of Night of the Living Dead or Return of the Living Dead, in the Italian shocker City of the Living Dead, a man is forced to sit still as a power drill bores straight through his skull. The most unpleasant part of this is the fact that you witness this death scene in one continuous shot. Gruesome even by today's standards.
#10: Butt Fisted to Death
From: Society
Brian Yuzna's criminally underappreciated Society has a scene towards the end of the extremely strange film where a man is anally fisted or "shunted" to death by maniacal gang of old rich people. After this happens, the raving senior citizens start melting into each other, forming some incredible-looking abominations, including one that's own face sticks out of its anus. It's all really hard to picture--just go watch Society. You can buy it for under $6 bundled together with Spontaneous Combustion.
#9: Splinter through the Eye
From: Zombie
Eyeball violence is certainly not something the horror genre is deficient in. From the Guinea Pig film series to the infamous scene from Hostel, people's eyes are always getting fucked up in horrible ways, but the mother of all eyeball impaling scenes is from Lucio Fulci's Zombie (AKA Zombi 2) where a woman is grabbed by a zombie and slowly pulled face first into a giant splinter sticking out of a door. What makes this scene so hard to watch is the fact that the process is so drawn out and leaves nothing to the imagination--you actually see the wooden shard go right into her eyeball in one big continuous shot!
#8: Coprophagia (Shit-Eating)
From: Salo
For those of us who have never watched a bona fide scat porn, watching someone consume feces in a movie is almost as upsetting (or erotic, depending on who you talk to). In Salo there's one scene that is guaranteed to send the squeamish running out of the room (that is, if they get that far into the film) where someone is forced to eat their own excrement. It's that unbearable. After completing the almost-evil 1975 film Salo, the director was murdered by someone, mangling him under the tires of his own vehicle.
#7: Shaving off Leg Flesh
From: Cabin Fever
Another scene that our female readers will likely agree as being one of the most unsettling moments in movie history is from Eli Roth's Cabin Fever. After feeling unsexy due to being infected with the film's flesh-eating disease, Marcy tries to shave her legs, and instead shaves off slivers of her loose leg flesh like she's peeling a rotten carrot. Even after revealing blackened scabs underneath her skin, she keeps shaving her gnarled flesh!
#6: Realistic Defacing
From: Dagon
Director Stuart Gordon is know primarily for two of his 80s horror efforts, Re-Animator and From Beyond, but in a close third is his recent horror project Dagon, which like the aforementioned films is loosely based on work of H.P. Lovecraft. Towards the end of the movie, an incoherent fisherman's face is violently torn off his skull, revealing what the gooey muscle tissue beneath everyone's face looks like... not that we wanted to know.

#5: Face vs. Bear Trap

Showtime's Masters of Horror series, where various acclaimed horror directors take a stab at creating their own one hour short film, may not have the heaping budgets of say a Hostel or Saw, but the abundance of gore isn't lacking in any way--if fact, many of MoH's episodes are bloodier than horror movies in theaters. In an episode titled Pelts which was directed by the great Dario Argento, an entranced young man inserts his face into a steel bear trap which then collapses on his face, scooping every last bit of flesh off his youthful mug.
#4: Acidic Milk Vomit
From: The Fly
In one of the most undeniably gut-wrenching scenes in motion picture history, a partially-transformed half-fly, half-man played by Jeff Goldblum commits the ultimate act of jealousy. He spews a milky-white discharge all over the guy who's working on stealing his woman, liquefying his hand and foot into a bleeding mess.

#3: Straight Razor to the Chest
From: Hellbound: Hellraiser II
In order to open a gateway to hell, a depraved Dr. Channard hands a barber's straight razor to one of his psychotic patients in hopes that a blood sacrifice will raise old pinhead and his hellish leather-clad posse. The patient eventually hallucinates that insects are crawling all over his body, so he carves his bare chest up with the instrument with numerous deep gashes.
#2: Eating Vomit from a Dog Bowl
From: Audition
What's worse than having both of your feet and tongue sheared off with piano wire and living out your life as a horribly maimed slave? Well, for one unfortunate character in Japanese horror film Audition it's having all that and only having one thing to eat: his female master's puke served to him in a dog dish. But he could always look at his situation as the glass being half full since the chick barfing his lunch up every day is a total babe.
#1: Drowned by Pureed Rotten Pig Carcasses
From: Saw III
As middling as the third installment in the popular Saw series was, someone needs to give a fucking award to screenwriter Leigh Whannel for the brilliantly revolting scene from Saw III that is hands-down the greatest torture scene in the entire franchise. In the scene, a man is shackled to the bottom of a steel vat, struggling to breathe as full-sized putrefied pigs are blended and then poured onto him, slowly suffocating him in this unkosher toxic pork sludge.
